I Understand the Appeal of FNAF Now & 2026 Website Plans (12.18.2025)

Good morning, evening, or night!

The only FNAF game I played was FNAF 1 at lunch with my friends on my phone around the time it released. I don’t remember much about it, but being on the internet for awhile gave me a vague sense of the knowledge that FNAF and its sequels existed. Some time ago, two YouTubers I watch for completely different things (Dual Process Theory for Sonic the Hedgehog (they’ll upload more Sonic videos soon...) and Retro Dude for Mega Man) posted videos on FNAF and while I have no idea what’s going on in FNAF, it did make something click about the appeal it has for me. It’s kinda like the Goosebumps of the modern day, and it’s also a ton of fun to hear people talk about it. Michael is The One You Shouldn’t Have Killed? Sure! Sounds fun and I like the themes! We’re gonna look at only the first game and analyze it to find a story? Sign me up! The videos scratch equal but opposite sides of my brain (convoluted lore vs simple lore). I’ve watched all of Dual Process Theory’s FNAF videos (and their sole Sonic video) and Retro Dude’s FNAF video alongside most of his Mega Man ones; I like hearing people talk about it! This was reinforced for me when I saw the second FNAF movie with some of my friends. I’ll give it to you upfront: I couldn’t tell you if this was a good movie. I think it had good and fun moments, but it’s definately a movie you go into the theater to see with an audience and then rewatch with friends (just like it’s a ton of fun to play FNAF with friends or watch Markiplier play it). It’s not a movie I’d watch without my friends or if I got really really into the lore myself instead of just hearing people talk about it. Basically, it's a movie you see in the theaters for the experience of hearing everyone applaud when Springtrap appears in the after-credits scene (it was a ton of fun!) and then hear a mom ask her kid who the guy was. Then you leave the theater and start talking about the lore with friends who know (and tbh care) more about that lore than you do. Great time! Not something I’d watch or really go see on my own.

In more relevant matters, I wanted to have a lot more on ACupOfCosmog at this point in the year. However, a lot of high-stress things have been happening in my life recently and they took precedence. So! I’m pushing the stuff I wanted by the end of this year to the first few months of 2026! The most pressing thing is getting up a gallery and area for my collection. It’s extremely important to me, and it’s part of the reason I decided to even make this site. I’d like to at least have a "Meet the Collection" type thing up by March 2026, introducing at least the model kits and figmas in my collection with photos, their product names, and my thoughts on them. I’d also like a gallery area for figure photos and dioramas. Having blog posts for the kits and dioramas could be fun as well. My first project for next year is shaping up to be a custom base for Yami Yugi. It would be neat to chronicle my progress with crafting and photography as well, and something I’ve been meaning to do is do maybe like a weekly or monthly roundup of figure prorders I’ve made and what my feelings are on them and whether or not I see myself culling them later. That said, I’ve been hesistant to do so since I tend to impulse PO and then sit on it to see if I really want said PO that badly after some time has passed or if there’s delays/deadline intersections with stuff I want more. I’ve been wanting to take nice pictures of my collection for ages, and this site has been the final push I really needed. I’d also like to get more in the shrine section. The Type Moon shrine isn’t going to write itself and I have an FGO reread scheduled. It could be fun to have pages for each chapter of the main story, and probably for events as well. I’m excited! FGO means a lot to me, warts and all, and it’s the only gacha I feel I could play until EOS even if I took breaks. I’ve also learned a lot about myths, legends, and literary and historical figures due to the game; sometimes you just have to research someone who pops up in the game! A section for stuff I’ve read to learn about Fate characters could be a fun section in general, but I want to read and re-read more of the series before doing that. I'd also like to add or get the skeletons up for other fandoms and series I like. Lillie from Pokemon is also getting her own dedicated page when I eventually get the Pokemon shrine up and running. I’d like to fully play through Moon and Ultra Sun again and enjoy the sunny skies of Alola once more! Also Cosmog is there! I love that guy! Something I’d like to do for the shrines is try to mimic the UI of their home series or do something inspired by it, but I’m not too skilled at coding yet and JavaScript is beyond my reach outside of templates. I have faith in myself though, and boy do I want to learn. A log for my plants could also be fun : ) A journal of me not killing my plants haha!

Overall I’m excited for next year in regards to my site! I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful end of year!
